Lord Murugan Kartikeya

Lord Shiva and Goddess Parvati had two sons- Lord Ganesh and Lord Skanda. Lord Skanda has many forms. In one of them, he is depicted with six faces and is known as Lord Shanmukha. His other popular names are Kartik, Karthikeyan/Kartikeyan, Murugan and Subrahmanya, the one who bestows his devotees with the knowledge of Brahman.

The peacock is considered sacred in Hindu mythology. The divine vehicle or vahana of Lord Muruga is a peacock named Paravani. It is believed that during a battle between Lord Muruga and a demon named Surapadman, the demon assumed the form of a big mango tree. This tree was split into two by Lord Muruga’s spear (vael). From one half emerged a cock and from the other a peacock. Lord Muruga took the peacock as His vahana and the cock as His flag symbol.

Lord Subramanya is one of the Hindu god, worshipped by most of the Hindu people in south India, Srilanka, Malaysia and Singapore. Lord Subramanya represents wisdom, strength, detachment, fame, wealth and divinity, which are signified by his six heads. Thai poosam is a Hindu religious festival dedicated to Lord Murugan that is celebrated by Tamil people.Thai Poosam falls on the full moon day in the Tamil month Thai (January - February).
